The HFE Bill reached its final stages yesterday in the House of Lords. There were 3 votes on amendments that the All Party Parliamentary Pro Life group supported; on alternatives to human embryos, Fatherhood and on presumed consent for donated tissues, which were all defeated.
The Government imposed a three line whip. The Liberal democrats also issued a whip. Conservative front benchers were told they could not speak (but did permit free votes). The debates and votes as recorded in Hansard will follow in the next 3 posts. |
