The All Party Parliamentary Pro Life Group has welcomed Conservative Party Leader David Camerons call for a reduction in the abortion time limit.

Ann Widdecombe MP said:  "We are delighted that David Cameron has signalled his support for a lowering of the time limit permitted for abortion.  However, there is no reason to assume that 20 weeks is the correct point at which abortions should be performed."

Since the publication of Professor Stuart Campbell
s stunning 4D pictures of babies as early as twelve weeks walking in the womb and further evidence from Professor Sunny Anand suggesting that unborn babies feel pain earlier than previously thought, there has been a clear groundswell of public support for a reduction in the time limit."

In 2006 there were
2,948 abortions over 20 weeks.  A Comres poll for Life in Sept 2007 found that more than two thirds of people (68%) support a substantial reduction in the upper time limit for abortion to around 13 weeks, bringing us into line with our European neighbours, with more women than men supporting a reduction (72% compared to 65%)

Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy and
Norway all have abortion time limits of 12 weeks.

Pro Life MPs will introduce amendments to the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill aimed at reducing the abortion time limit
